JAYAPURA DIOCESE PARTICIPATES IN THE TRIUNE GOD'S MISSION IN PAPUA

The Diocese of Jayapura is one of five dioceses in Papua. The center of this diocese is located in the capital city of Papua Province. The Diocese of Jayapura has 4 deaneries and 28 parishes. In this article we will present the author's testimony based on his life experience and work in the Diocese of Jayapura. When talking about the entire process of pastoral work in the Diocese of Jayapura, of course it cannot be separated from the role of the Franciscan missionaries in Papua. The missionaries through the help of the Holy Spirit proclaimed the Gospel of Christ in the Diocese of Jayapura so that the seeds of the Gospel are still felt by the people until now we have a native Papuan bishop, Mgr. Yan You, Pr. In the task of calling and preaching the missionaries in the Diocese of Jayapura certainly did not go smoothly because of the many challenges and obstacles they experienced. In such a situation the missionaries did not give up because they were supported by the Spirit of God to continue to spread the good news to others. Finally, through the efforts of the missionaries, the Diocese of Jayapura was formed into a Particular Church until now. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, the Diocese of Jayapura can participate in the mission of the Triune God in the land of Papua and is now led by a native Papuan bishop, namely Mgr. Yan You.
