About the Journal

Kariwari is the traditional house of the Tobati tribe (which etymologically means “true man of the sun”) who live on the coast of Youtefa Bay, Jayapura. The structure of the Kariwari is a three-tiered octagonal pyramid. The roof is made of sago leaves. The entire building rests on one main pole in the center.
