THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH AS A COMPANION AND AGENT OF LOCAL CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION IN PROCLAIMING THE FAITH AT ST.FRANCIS OF ASISI WATOMODOR STATION

The church has an important role in the lives of the people, not only as a place for faith formation, but also as a companion and agent of local cultural transformation in the life of the community. Local culture that lives and develops in the community can be a means of preaching the faith if it is integrated with Christian values. At the St. Assisi Watomodor Station, local culture still greatly influences the lives of the people so that the Church is required to be able to accompany and guide the people so that the existing culture continues to support the growth of faith. The problem of this research is how the role of the church as a companion and agent of local cultural transformation in the preaching of faith at the St. Assisi Watomodor Station. This study aims to describe the role of the Church in accompanying the people and transferring local cultural input as a contextual medium for preaching the faith. The research method used is a Qualitative Method with a Descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through Observation, Interviews, and Documentation of Religious Leaders, and Local Community Leaders. The results of the study show that the Church plays an active role in fostering faith through pastoral care and developing local cultural beliefs in accordance with Christian teachings so that the preaching of faith becomes more contextual, easily accepted, and able to strengthen the faith of the congregation in everyday life.
